New Sustainable Construction

In 2006, Shay Construction built this environmentally friendly Chester County residence. The home includes many innovative environmental technologies while maintaining a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for the owners and their guests. Among the sustainable elements and technologies utilized in construction were active and passive solar heating, closed-loop geothermal cooling, a rainwater collection and recycling system, local and renewable building materials, low-E insulated windows, hydronic radiant heat, and a whole-house energy recovery ventilation system. This project is a stunning example of the successful marriage of comfortable, sophisticated living and sustainable design and construction. The residence was featured in the Spring 2007 issue of Philadelphia Magazine Home and Garden.
