Complete Renovation and New Construction

In 2006, Shay Construction completed this 29,000 square foot French country home on the former Breyer estate in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. The project included the partial demolition and complete gut of an existing 11,000 sq. ft. residence and the construction of two new additions. The property, over 25 acres in size, required extensive sitework and storm water management systems to accommodate the unique European inspired gardens and landscapes that surround the estate. Creative problem solving and innovate construction methods helped overcome the challenges in integrating the existing structure and the new additions into a single home that is considered one of the premiere estate residences in the Philadelphia area. The residence features limestone hardscaping and facades, a pool house, pool and spa, extensive landscaping, significant custom millwork and casework, radiant heat, intricate decorative plaster ceilings, mouldings and veneers, ornate iron railings and balconies, water-jet cut marble floors, hand-painted wood floors, a 20-seat home theater with stadium seating, a fully-integrated audio/visual and computer network, and decorative painted finishes and guilding throughout. Significant completion of the estate was reached within 20 months of initial ground-breaking. The estate will be featured in Architectural Digest in 2008.
