New Construction in Historic Building

Among the projects that Shay Construction has completed at the historic Barclay Hotel on Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia is this 11,000 sq. ft. residence. Completed in 2003, the project required the use of a unique high-velocity air conditioning system to take full advantage of the ceiling height available in the building. We also replaced and relocated much of the existing plumbing in the residence to create spaces that had previously not been utilized at The Barclay. Other aspects of this project included extensive hardwood flooring, decorative plaster mouldings, ceilings and veneers, sophisticated lighting and audio/visual systems and significant custom millwork, cabinetry, and coffered ceilings.
